Release your hands- enjoy VR gaming more.

(Special thanks to Micha, a smart VR enthusiast, who suggested the idea of this product, his channel @letsplay_psvr2)

Mar 2024, the V2 is ready and shipped to all V1 early supporters, start to accept new orders

Jan 2024, received some feedback from the early-bird supporters about the left and right pads being the same shape, this is as designed, not a wrong packing,  it indeed makes the left pad installation a bit tricky and not as easy as the right. However, once installed,  it does not affect using of the grip and the appearance imperfection is not noticeable if not examined by purpose. A simple video reference here if you encounter any problems with the left pad installation.

And, some customers suggest making the thicker pad softer, with high-density foam inside, which should feel better on hand. We made a sample and it indeed felt better

So, we are addressing the 2 points and pausing to accept new orders, will release a V2. All early supporters who ordered V1 will get a free upgrade.

Thanks a lot for the early bird supporters and the improvement suggestions!

The story

May 2023, many CMP2 comfort mod users told us they liked and missed the knuckle strap on Valve Index controllers and requested us to design something similar to release hands in the VR world. The haptic feature of Sense controllers plus the hands-releasing knuckle strap would make it the best VR controller on the market. After a quick search on Google, we found a free way /trick online that uses stock straps to make a controller grip as in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAt2v_YjGtU. Followed that video and tried it,  it worked but was far from the feeling I got from the Valve Index knuckle strap, ended up not using it anymore because it's not comfortable on my hands, felt weird to press buttons, and may break the stock clip in long term/ fiercely hand movement.

June - Sept 2023,  we started the project but soon found it's very difficult because of the shape of the Sense controller, it's just too hard to design an adapter that able to clip &  fix on the controller securely, and at the same time, was able to compatible to official and most third party charging dock. I think that's the reason why other companies did not bother to design a controller grip for PSVR2.  It's lucky that we finally found a way after several weeks of study and attempt, it's imperfect but seems to do the trick. The early version designs looked as the following (loop/strap was not included)

Oct-Dec 2023, after several version updates, we decided to make several engineer samples and ship them to the early tester,  it's a pity that the feedback was not so great, the main problems included complicated installation, appearance not great, some plastic corner/edge touch hands to cause discomfort. One of the early testers, Micha(a smart VR enthusiast on YouTube, his channel @letsplay_psvr2), suggested an idea to insert some foam pads on the inner side of the controller and make something similar to a bicycle glove. We hand-made a foam pad, stuck it on the controller and it worked! After some improvement on that hand-made sample, we made several prototypes that looked like the following. We tested the prototypes within the team and some of our friends, and sent the sample to Micha. The feedback is mostly good, however, there is a noticeable issue. To make the hand and the controller hold together securely(not drop during fierce hand movement), the pressure on the back of the hand needs to reach a  level that some feel okay but others feel uncomfortable in long sessions. We wanted to bring the hands-releasing experience to all VR 2 gamers so we decided not to release the product and kept finding other ways/seeking ideas from different mechanisms and engineers.

Jan 2024, after several attempts and fail, we finally worked out another way to make the hand and the controller attach securely together without noticeable pressure from the foam pad, as the following, through an extra wide Velcro wrist strap. The foam pad only worked as a soft layer to fill the space between the hand and the controller, barely caused any pressure on the hand, and provided some kind of support to the back of the hand only when the hand needed it.

Users can choose the preferred one from the 2 different setup ways
